HISTORY and EDUCATION
Ryan is a life long Ojai resident. He grew up in Ojai attending Ojai Valley School and graduating from Nordhoff High School in 1999. After high school, Ryan attended theUniversity of Southern California earning a degree in Communication with an emphasis in journalism while working as an anchor on the nightly news broadcast for the USC television station ATVN.
After college, Ryan worked as a sales executive selling computer software and high level security solutions for Lexington Technology of Irvine, CA. Ryan then decided to attend law school and enrolled at the Ventura and Santa Barbara Colleges of Law where he earned his law degree in 2009. He began his legal career working at the Blatz Law Firm in 2006. In 2013, after his success with the Ojai FLOW campaign, Ryan decided to start his own law firm, Ryan Blatz Law.

Currently, Ryan lives in Ojai and is very active in the Ojai community. He was campaign manager for his father’s two successful Ojai City Council campaigns and he is spokesman and advocate for Ojai FLOW, the community group organized to help reduce Ojai’s water rates by removing the Golden State Water Company as Ojai’s water purveyor (you may have seen the signs around town).
Ryan was instrumental in helping lead Ojai FLOW’s successful campaign in support of Bond Measure V, which received an unprecedented 87% yes vote. Click on the NEWS page to see Ryan media coverage of Ryan’s work with Ojai FLOW. His experience with Ojai issues and Ojai politics make him uniquely qualified to help Ojai clients. In addition to legal representation, Ryan also does business consulting for various Ojai clients wanting to grow their business. For his work with Ojai FLOW, Ryan received the Ojai NOBEL Peace Prize and proclamations of the City of Ojai and the County of Ventura.
Ryan is also currently on the advisory committee for the Ojai Valley Defense Fund and has helped raise money for many local organizations like the Ojai Educational Foundation and Relay for Life. He is also active with the Alumni Association at Ojai Valley School, and the University of Southern California. When he is not working or volunteering, Ryan is usually playing golf and is a member of the Men’s Club and Sundowners golf league at Soule Park and an avid USC Trojan football fan.

Campaign manager for June special election of Ojai City Council. Managed all messaging, advertising, voter outreach, fundraising, and volunteers. Election victory of 60% to 40%.

Sales job included managing large distributor accounts and end-user sales. The Noble Peace Prize concept - an obvious play on the internationally awarded NOBEL Peace Prize - was first shared at a casual but intentional gathering of Ojai-area peace activists, and it resonated immediately with our philosophy that to create a working Culture of Peace.
